Senior cricket umpire returns after WICB workshop

Senior local cricket umpire Clancy Mack is back on island after attending a two-day West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Elite Panel of Umpires workshop at the Bay Garden Hotel in St Lucia on April 18 and 19.

The workshop brought together the recently appointed 12-member elite panel of umpires for the region.
The team consisted of Peter Nero, Joel Wilson, Gregory Braithwaite, Clyde Duncan, Goland Greaves, Luther Kelly, Norman Malcolm, Vincent Bullen, Mack, Nigel Duggit, Vivian Johnson and Lennox Abraham.

The facilitator of the workshop was the ICC Regional Umpire Performance Manager for the UK, West Indies, Europe and the Americas Region, Barry Dudleston.

The workshop, the first since the WICB announced the panel, gave the umpires the opportunity to review the regional four-day cricket tournament.

The umpires gave presentations on umpiring aspects of the game. Mack and Greaves gave a presentation on communication.

Just this year, Mack, Duncan and Greaves were removed from the International Panel and replaced by Nero, Braithwaite and Wilson.

Mack still holds the position of area vice president for the West Indies Cricket Umpires Association with responsibilities for the Leewards. He is also the training and examination officer.
