At CCL Unlimited fun for spectators

The Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) is the next big thing happening in the City after the Indian Premier League. And there’s more excitement, thanks to the presence of the home team ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’.

The jersey and the theme song of ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ were launched amidst much fanfare in a city hotel recently. Present at the launch were Ashok Kheny, the director of AKK Entertainment and the team owner, Sudeep, the team captain, CCL brand ambassador Shriya Saran, Karnataka Bulldozers’ brand ambassador Madhuri Bhattacharya and producer Rockline Venkatesh.

The theme song titled Karnataka Bulldozers Gellabeku, Karnataka Bulldozers sung by Sonu Nigam, Kunal Ganjawala and Sowmya Rao was also launched on the occasion. Vijay Prakash of Jai Ho fame, who sung one more theme song Dhoom Dhamaka Dum Mare, enthralled the audience with the song. A group of boys and girls, dressed in bright costumes, danced to the song.

The ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ walked the ramp, dressed in the newly launched blue jersey. Brimming with energy actors Sudeep, Diganth, Chiranjeevi Sarja, Rahul, Dharma Keertiraj said that they were all set for the battle.

After launching the new jersey and a calendar containing the photos and birthdays of actors, Ashok Kheny said, “I am very passionate about my team. The idea of participating in the CCL is to promote the rich culture and sportsmanship of the State along with highlighting the strength of Kannada film fraternity. The opening ceremony will see about 1,200 folk artistes performing live along with Sonu Nigam. Portions of the amount collected from ticket sales will be used for the welfare of specially challenged children.”

Sudeep said that he is confident about his team. “People may assume that these matches are just for fun. But, we have taken it seriously. We have a physiotherapist and a trainer to guide us. The CCL is helping us break the monotony of filmdom,” he opined. He thanked the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce for declaring holiday during the match. Terming CCL as an interesting concept, Shriya Saran said, “Only two things rule this country — films and cricket. The CCL is the marriage between these two, hence it will be a great success.” Madhuri Bhattacharya said, “I have faith that ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ will bring home the Cup.”

The first match of CCL between ‘Karnataka Bulldozers’ led by Sudeep and ‘Mumbai Heroes’ led by Salman Khan under the captaincy of Suniel Shetty will be held in the City at Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4.
