The 2015 season of the Indian Premier League (abbreviated as IPL 8 or Pepsi IPL 2015) is the eighth season of the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions having won the title in the 2014 season. The complete tournament is expected to be held across different cities in India unlike the previous season. The tournament was started on Wednesday, 8 April 2015 after the end of the 2015 Cricket World Cup. A total of 60 T20 matches will be held in the entire tournament. No matches will be held in Kolkata between April 12 and April 25 due to Municipal Elections.

Franchises retained 123 players 8th IPL season before moving into auction. The released players provided an option to register themselves for auction. 6 Players were transferred across teams before the auction took place. In the Pepsi IPL 2015 auction held on February 16 at Bangalore, Yuvraj Singh was sold to Delhi Daredevils for 16 crores INR, for a record bid in IPL auction history. A total of 67 players were sold out in the auction and all franchises spent total of 87.60 Crores to buy players.

Vinay Replaces Varun Aaron for Test Series in Australia


Vinay Kumar - right-arm medium pacer was got the place into the Indian test squad for the tour of Australia in replacement of Varun Aaron after he was diagnosed with a back injury on Thursday evening. VarunAronis India’s second first-choice pace bowler to pull out of the tour because of injury. Praveen Kumar also had been ruled out earlierdue to a rib injury. “It’s a like a dream come true for me. I always wanted to be part of the Test squad, and happy to have made the place,” Vinay said.

Despite a proven track record in first-class matches, the 27-year old Karnataka skipper had to see players and his State-mates like Abhimanyu Mithun, Aaron and Umesh Yadav jump the queue and play Tests in recent times.

Australia is certainly not an unfamiliar place for Vinay, who has toured Down Under a couple of times as part of the Emerging Players’ squad.
Meanwhile, Aaron said: “I have got a stress reaction in my back and that’s why I won’t be a part of the Test squad.” It’s really a tough time for Varun Arom as he is going to miss an opportunity. He will leaving for Bangalore on Monday and undergo to complete rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy.
