The 2015 season of the Indian Premier League (abbreviated as IPL 8 or Pepsi IPL 2015) is the eighth season of the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions having won the title in the 2014 season. The complete tournament is expected to be held across different cities in India unlike the previous season. The tournament was started on Wednesday, 8 April 2015 after the end of the 2015 Cricket World Cup. A total of 60 T20 matches will be held in the entire tournament. No matches will be held in Kolkata between April 12 and April 25 due to Municipal Elections.
Franchises retained 123 players 8th IPL season before moving into auction. The released players provided an option to register themselves for auction. 6 Players were transferred across teams before the auction took place. In the Pepsi IPL 2015 auction held on February 16 at Bangalore, Yuvraj Singh was sold to Delhi Daredevils for 16 crores INR, for a record bid in IPL auction history. A total of 67 players were sold out in the auction and all franchises spent total of 87.60 Crores to buy players.

Virendra Shewag Gets 12th Spot in ODI Rankings
Sehwag's breathtaking 219 that came off 149 balls and included 25 fours and seven sixes catapulted him to the 12th position.
After his record-breaking double century against the West Indies in the fourth ODI Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag has jumped eight places in the ICC ODI Player Rankings and got the 12th Position. His magnificent 219 that came off 149 balls integrated with 25 Fours and 7 Sixes helps home to achieve that position. He had also become the 24th batsman who completed 8,000 ODI runs during his brilliant innings at Indore.
ViratKohli (on 3rd), M.S DHoni (on 5th) and GautamGambhir( 18th) are the other Indian batsmen inside the top 20, apart from this Rohit Sharma also has jumped 20 places to claim 36th position.
In the ICC Player Rankings for ODI bowlers, India's left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja has achieved a career-best ranking of 13th after taking nine wickets in the recent series against West Indies.His good show with bat and the bowl has also made him India's highest-ranked all-rounder and 10th position.
At other side West Indies batsmen like Kieron Pollard, Darren Bravo and Andre Russell also have significantly improved their rankings despite of lost the five-match series by 4-1. The latest table of ICC ODI Player Rankings was released on Sunday after the final game of the series.
