The 2015 season of the Indian Premier League (abbreviated as IPL 8 or Pepsi IPL 2015) is the eighth season of the IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions having won the title in the 2014 season. The complete tournament is expected to be held across different cities in India unlike the previous season. The tournament was started on Wednesday, 8 April 2015 after the end of the 2015 Cricket World Cup. A total of 60 T20 matches will be held in the entire tournament. No matches will be held in Kolkata between April 12 and April 25 due to Municipal Elections.

Franchises retained 123 players 8th IPL season before moving into auction. The released players provided an option to register themselves for auction. 6 Players were transferred across teams before the auction took place. In the Pepsi IPL 2015 auction held on February 16 at Bangalore, Yuvraj Singh was sold to Delhi Daredevils for 16 crores INR, for a record bid in IPL auction history. A total of 67 players were sold out in the auction and all franchises spent total of 87.60 Crores to buy players.

Sri Lankan players will not participate in Pepsi IPL 2013 matches in Chennai

This is with reference to news reports last week that the government of Sri Lanka has issued a travel advisory that its citizens should exercise caution when travelling to Tamil Nadu.

Today, the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has written to the Prime Minister of India stating that she will not permit the participation of Sri Lankan players or umpires in matches in Chennai during Pepsi IPL 2013.

The IPL Governing Council met this afternoon to discuss the issue.  The security of all involved in the IPL, whether players, spectators or those working in the stadiums, is of paramount importance to the BCCI.

The Governing Council decided that Sri Lankan players will not participate in the Pepsi IPL 2013 League matches in Chennai and will advise the nine franchises accordingly.

Pepsi IPL 2013 Schedule Revised due to Assembly elections in Karnataka

The match-schedule of the Pepsi IPL 2013 has undergone revisions, as a result of the state assembly elections in Karnataka, in May 2013.

The following changes have been made to the schedule: 
1. KXIP vs DD – shifted from 23/4 (8:00 pm, Mohali) to 16/5 (8:00 pm, Dharamshala)

2. SH vs DD – stays on 4/5 – moves from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm - Hyderabad

3. RCB vs KXIP – shifted from 4/5 (8:00 pm, Bengaluru) to 14/5 (4:00 pm, Bengaluru)

4. RCB vs SH – shifted from 6/5 (8:00 pm, Bengaluru) to 9/4 (4:00 pm, Bengaluru)

5. DD vs KXIP – shifted from 13/5 (4:00 pm, Delhi) to 23/4 (8:00 pm, Delhi)

6. KKR vs PWI – shifted from 14/5 (8:00 pm, Ranchi) to 15/5 (4:00 pm, Ranchi)

7. KXIP vs RCB – shifted from 16/5 (4:00 pm, Dharamshala) to 6/5 (8:00 pm, Mohali)

8. CSK vs DD   – shifted from 16/5 (8:00 pm, Chennai) to 14/5 (8:00 pm, Chennai)

Daredevils batsman Jesse Ryder in critical condition

New Zealand and Delhi Daredevils star Jesse Ryder is in an induced coma at a Christchurch hospital. He suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries, following an assault in the South Island city of Christchurch. The 28-year-old was beaten up by assailants in the early hours of Thursday. According to recent updates, he is said to be in critical condition.

As per reports and official statements, Ryder was attacked when he left a bar to go to a fast food joint across the street.

According to detective senior sergeant Brian Archer, there was a run-in between Ryder and "two or three" people when he stepped outside the bar. And when he crossed the road, he was attacked by one of those people.

"The hospital advised he is in a critical condition. He is in an induced coma as a result of suffering multiple injuries," Archer stated.
